This weekend, the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties put on its Annual Kids in the Kitchen event at the John Avery Boys and Girls Club in downtown Durham. Kids in the Kitchen teaches children how to make healthy food choices and encourages kids to be active. Children in 1st through 8th grade participated in the event.
Representatives from SEEDS and DIG taught the children about organic gardening while fitness and sports therapy professionals hosted games for the children. The day ended with a raffle for prizes such as soccer balls, basketballs, scooters and skateboards. Everyone left with a goodie bag filled with healthy treats, water bottles, jump ropes and lots of good information about nutrition and exercise.
